Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially approved September 26, 2025, as the date for the coronation of High Chief Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The decision followed a private meeting between the governor and the former governor of the state, who is now the Olubadan-designate.
The meeting, which took place at Oba Ladoja’s Ondo Street, Bodija residence in Ibadan, was the first time Governor Makinde paid a visit to the monarch since his return to the ancient city.
To ensure a befitting and well-coordinated ceremony, the state government has constituted a coronation committee.
The committee will be chaired by Chief Bayo Oyero, a former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), who is expected to oversee the planning and execution of the historic event.
