The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will open camp in Uyo on Monday, 1 September 2025, as preparations intensify for the decisive rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria will kick off this phase of their campaign with a clash against Rwanda on 6 September at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, before travelling south to face South Africa at the Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein, on 9 September.

The Super Eagles face mounting pressure in their qualifying group, sitting fourth with seven points from six matches.
Their record so far includes just one win — a 2-0 triumph away to Rwanda — along with three draws and a surprise defeat to Benin Republic.
Group leaders South Africa currently top the table with 13 points, followed by Rwanda and Benin on eight points each, while Lesotho (6 points) and Zimbabwe (4 points) complete the standings.

With only the group winner guaranteed an automatic ticket to the FIFA 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the Super Eagles have no margin for error.
Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to release his squad list in the coming days, with several Europe-based stars tipped for recalls, the NFF has assured that all logistics are being finalised to ensure a smooth and focused training camp in Uyo.

Nigeria, who painfully missed out on the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022, are determined not to repeat history.
With four matches left to play, maximum points will be crucial if the three-time African champions are to book their place on the global stage in 2026.
