The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin congratulated Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as “Don,” on his resounding victory in the Saturday Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election.
In a statement issued on Sunday through his Media Aide, Oyetunji Oyekunle, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin described the win as well-deserved and a significant reflection of the people’s trust in Hon. Oyekunle’s competence, integrity, and proven capacity for leadership.
According to the Speaker, the election outcome underscores the electorate’s confidence in a candidate whose track record demonstrates dedication, consistency, and accountability.
The Speaker highlighted Hon. Oyekunle’s previous achievements in the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly.
He said, “Don distinguished himself as an outstanding lawmaker, whose contributions to legislative debates were always insightful, and whose commitment to the welfare of his constituents was unwavering.
“His loyalty to the ideals and principles of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been evident throughout his career,” Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin said.

“This electoral victory is a testament to his diligence, humility, and steadfast service.”
Before his election to the National Assembly, Hon. Oyekunle distinguished himself as Governor Seyi Makinde’s deputy chief of staff.
In this role, he was critical in coordinating government activities, implementing key policies, and ensuring effective engagement between the governor’s office and the public.
The Speaker emphasised that this new mandate to the National Assembly clearly reflects the people’s recognition of Hon. Oyekunle’s past contributions and their confidence in his ability to deliver even greater dividends of democracy on a federal level.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin further described the victory as more than a political win.
“It is a clear statement that the people of Ibadan North recognise and value good governance, integrity, and dedicated public service.
