Iragbiji community in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State witnessed a historic moment with the commissioning of Kings 87.9 FM, the first-ever radio station to be established in the town.

The inauguration ceremony attracted eminent personalities, including the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro; the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi; and the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola.
The initiative was spearheaded by the station’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abimbola Amusan, alongside Mr. Olusola Amusan, the CEO of Vesti fintech hub.
Together, they unveiled the media outfit, marking what many described as a significant step in enhancing community communication, cultural promotion, and grassroots development.
Governor Oyebanji, in his goodwill message, during the commissioning of King 87.9 FM, in Iragbiji, applauded the establishment of the radio station, describing it as a clear demonstration of private enterprise complementing government efforts in social development.

He emphasized the importance of professionalism and adherence to the guidelines of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
“The launch of Kings FM is a testament to the power of private initiatives in strengthening information dissemination and promoting community growth,” the governor said.
For Oba Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, the creation of Kings FM represents a source of pride for his people. He urged the station’s management and staff to embrace professionalism and use the platform as a vehicle for promoting Yoruba culture and language.

“This is the first radio station in Iragbiji land. Our language must be projected without dilution, and the media must serve the community and the nation positively,” he remarked.
On his part, Oba Toriola of Modakeke encouraged the media house to prioritize content that drives peace, technological advancement, and agricultural development.
He equally emphasized the need for Kings FM to play a central role in preserving Yoruba heritage, especially the indigenous language that is gradually losing relevance among the younger generation.
Speaking on his vision, the CEO, Mr. Abimbola Amusan, disclosed that the dream of owning a broadcast station had been in the works for over a decade. He expressed gratitude that the idea had finally become a reality despite the regulatory and technical challenges faced along the way.
“We are currently on a test transmission phase, and in a few weeks, Kings FM will commence full operations. We remain committed to serving the people with quality content guided by NBC’s standards,” Amusan assured.
The launch of Kings 87.9 FM not only signaled the entry of a new voice in the Osun media landscape but also ignited optimism that the station would foster development, preserve culture, and strengthen unity within the community and beyond.
