The fire reportedly broke out around 7:30 p.m., sending shockwaves through the area as thick smoke and flames consumed portions of the building
A massive fire engulfed the Music House, the sprawling business complex owned by celebrated gospel musician Dr. Yinka Ayefele, in the bustling Challenge area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday evening.

The complex is not only a hub for Ayefele’s music career but also houses multiple enterprises, including his Merry Makers’ Band, Tiwantiwa Radio, Blast FM, and the widely listened-to Fresh FM station, making the blaze a significant event for the local media and entertainment community.
The fire reportedly broke out around 7:30 p.m., sending shockwaves through the area as thick smoke and flames consumed portions of the building. Staff members, residents, and passersby scrambled to safety.

At the same time, the fire disrupted live radio transmissions and other ongoing activities within the premises, leaving many in a state of panic and uncertainty.
Samuel Ibikunle, an eyewitness who was among the first to notice the flames, quickly raised the alarm and appealed for urgent assistance.
“Fresh FM is currently on fire! We urgently need the Fire Service to respond immediately. Please spread the word and alert the nearest station,” he said, highlighting the immediate danger and the need for swift action.

Authorities responded promptly.
The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed that firefighters had been deployed to the scene and reassured the public that the situation was being controlled.
Efforts were focused on containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighbouring buildings in the densely populated area.
As of press time, the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, and officials have yet to provide a comprehensive assessment of the damage.
The incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures in commercial complexes across Ibadan and the readiness of emergency services to respond to such crises.
