The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially rejected claims that it is collaborating with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming bye-election for the Kajuru/Chikun Federal Constituency, set for Saturday.

According to Kaduna SDP Chairman, Hon. Adamu Idris, the rumors are entirely unfounded and appear to be the work of individuals seeking to mislead voters. Idris pointedly named one Hon. Nasiru Maikano, clarifying that he “is not affiliated with the SDP in any capacity and holds no official position within the party.”
Hon. Idris stressed that the SDP has made no arrangements to form any alliance with other political parties in the state. He described the dissemination of such false information as a potential threat to the party’s electoral chances, warning that it could confuse the electorate if left unchecked.

The chairman also announced that the party plans to report the matter to the appropriate authorities, labeling it as a violation of the SDP’s constitution. “Any attempt to misrepresent the party is not only misleading but could undermine the democratic process,” he said.
Reaffirming the party’s focus on the upcoming election, Idris confirmed that Comrade Johnathan Maikaratu Wushiri remains the official SDP candidate for the Kajuru/Chikun Federal Constituency. He encouraged voters in Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly constituencies to ignore statements from unauthorized sources posing as party representatives.

Additionally, Idris called on all SDP members and supporters to stay calm, act responsibly, and comply with all electoral guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He emphasized that the party is committed to conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible campaign leading up to the bye-election.
The SDP’s firm clarification underscores its determination to safeguard its reputation and maintain focus on the electoral process, ensuring that misinformation does not disrupt the party’s engagement with voters.
