Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has officially commissioned the construction of the Karatudu-Romi Road in Chikun Local Government Area, a project left incomplete for more than a decade.

The ceremony, which took place on Thursday, marks a significant milestone in the state government’s effort to boost rural infrastructure.
The road, originally approved under the administration of the late Governor Patrick Yakowa, was halted after his passing, leaving communities along the route disconnected for 13 years.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sani described the project as essential for the residents of Karatudu and Unguwan Romi, highlighting the impact improved road networks have on local economic and social development.
“Our focus is on areas that have been historically underserved,” Sani stated. “We are committed to rural development and ensuring that our citizens have access to essential infrastructure.” He assured the public that construction would start immediately, with a reputable contractor engaged to complete the road within eight months.

Emphasizing accountability and tangible results, the governor added, “Our administration delivers on promises. We do not engage in empty political rhetoric. Every project we initiate is measurable and impactful.”
Governor Sani also shared that his administration has initiated over 83 road projects across the state, with 31 already completed. He criticized past political leaders for neglecting these communities and noted that some are only now returning to the area seeking political relevance, without having contributed to meaningful development.
The Karatudu-Romi initiative will also cover several connecting township roads, including Cemetery Road, Lusawa Road, School Road to Karatudu, and Jemaa Road. Additional roadworks in Chikun Local Government Area, such as the Keke-Makera route and the Doka Mai Jemaa-Dan Hono road in Kujama Ward, are already in progress.
Governor Sani also highlighted completed projects like the Water Intake Road from Unguwan Mai Gero to Narayi, which has been inaugurated. Plans are underway to start construction on the road linking Zenith Bank Roundabout on Kachia Road to the Flour Mill area, creating a strategic connection between Chikun and Kaduna South.
Further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to infrastructure, funds have been released for the long-neglected Television-Kaduna Garage-Sabon Tasha Road, linking four electoral wards. Work on this road is expected to commence next week.

With multiple road projects underway and more on the horizon, Governor Sani’s administration is signaling a renewed focus on infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth, improved mobility, and access to essential services in Kaduna State’s rural communities.
