Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, powered to an emphatic 87-66 victory over defending champions Tunisia in their second Group B game of the ongoing 2025 FIBA Afrobasket in Angola on Friday.

Playing at the Pavilhao Multiusos de Luanda, the 2015 champions dominated from start to finish, building on their opening 77-59 win over Madagascar.

Houston Rockets guard Josh Okogie led the charge with a career-high 33 points, setting the tone early as Nigeria raced to a 10-0 lead. By the end of the first quarter, D’Tigers were up 29-16, extending their advantage to 48-33 at halftime.

The momentum carried into the third quarter, with Nigeria widening the gap to 68-47. Although Tunisia attempted a late rally in the final period, the margin proved too steep, sealing a 21-point win for the West Africans.

Head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman starting lineup featured Ike Nwamu, Caleb Agada, Talib Zanna, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, and Okogie, who spearheaded a clinical team performance.

The win keeps Nigeria top of Group B ahead of their final group-stage match against Cameroon on Sunday, which will determine knockout stage seeding.

PD’Tigers have won the Afrobasket title once—in 2015—and finished as runners-up three times. They will hope to emulate the success of their female counterparts, D’Tigress, who recently secured a historic fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket crown.
