The Imo State Police Command has successfully apprehended a pastor and his associate in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman, highlighting ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tackle crimes against vulnerable citizens.

The arrests were officially confirmed on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye.
According to the statement, the accused, 32-year-old Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel of Authentic Power City Church in Umuobom, Ideato-South Local Government Area, and his accomplice, Franklin Chizoba, reportedly convinced the young woman to visit the pastor’s residence on June 30, 2025, under the pretense of performing spiritual prayers and offering guidance.
Upon her arrival, it is alleged that the pastor administered a drink which caused the victim to become dizzy. Following this, both men are accused of engaging in non-consensual sexual activity with her.
Police officers acted swiftly after the incident was reported. Investigators from the Orlu Divisional Headquarters apprehended the duo, who, during interrogation, admitted to committing the act.
The suspects also reportedly confessed to participating in homosexual acts. Following their arrest, they were formally charged in court on August 12, 2025, and remanded at the Owerri Correctional Facility pending trial.
In a separate but equally concerning development, the Orlu Division apprehended 39-year-old Ifeanyi Odinka of Amaifeke, Orlu, for the alleged murder of his 75-year-old father, Denius Odinka.
The fatal incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over the proceeds of a land sale. During police questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted responsibility for the crime. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri for further investigations and subsequent prosecution.

The Imo State Police Command emphasized that these arrests reflect the force’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and safeguarding the lives and property of residents.
The Command urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid engaging in unlawful activities, and report any suspicious behavior immediately. Citizens can contact their nearest police station or use the dedicated hotline at 08034773600 to provide information or seek assistance.
By taking decisive actions against perpetrators of sexual assault and violent crimes, the Imo State Police Command aims to reinforce public trust and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable under the law.
