The Imo State Police Command has reaffirmed its determination to clamp down on violent crimes, sexual offences, and other unlawful activities across the state, vowing to bring perpetrators to justice without delay.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, in a statement on Wednesday, detailed two separate arrests made by operatives attached to the Orlu Divisional Headquarters.
The first involved a shocking case of patricide in Orlu Local Government Area, while the second centred on a sexual assault allegedly committed by a local pastor and his associate.
According to Okoye, police officers apprehended 39-year-old Ifeanyi Odinka, a native of Amaifeke, Orlu, on August 12, 2025, for allegedly stabbing his 75-year-old father, Dennis Odinka, to death.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fatal incident followed a heated disagreement between father and son over the sharing of proceeds from a recently sold piece of land. During interrogation, the suspect is said to have confessed to the crime.
He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation and possible prosecution.
In a separate operation, the same police division arrested Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel, 32, of Authentic Power City Church, alongside his alleged accomplice, Franklin Chizoba, for the sexual assault of a young girl.
The incident reportedly occurred on June 30, 2025, when the victim was lured to the pastor’s residence in Umuobom, Ideato South Local Government Area, under the pretext of receiving special prayers.
Okoye explained that the suspects offered the victim a drink laced with a sedative, which caused her to feel dizzy. It was at this point, police allege, that both men took turns having unlawful carnal knowledge of her. Disturbingly, during questioning, the duo also admitted to engaging in homosexual activities.
Following their arrest, the suspects were arraigned before a competent court on August 12, 2025, where they were ordered to be remanded at the Correctional Facility in Owerri pending trial.
The Imo State Police Command has assured that both cases will be pursued to their logical conclusion, with a promise that justice will be served for the victims and their families.
