Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced that he will be embarking on a three-week medical leave to attend to health-related matters. The leave is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 18, 2025.

The disclosure was made in an official statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Bala Salisu Zango. According to the Commissioner, the governor’s decision to temporarily step aside is part of his commitment to maintaining good health in order to effectively discharge the responsibilities of his office.

Governor Radda, while addressing the people of the state through the statement, expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of support, understanding, and prayers he has received since making the decision. He noted that the encouragement from citizens has been a source of strength and reassurance.

“Taking the necessary steps to prioritise my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state,” the governor said.

“I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I complete my medical check-up. I thank everyone for their kind words and ongoing support.”

The governor further assured that his temporary absence will not disrupt the smooth running of government activities.

To ensure continuity, he has appointed the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal (Sarkin Fulanin Jobe), to serve as Acting Governor during the period. The arrangement, he explained, will allow the deputy to oversee the state’s day-to-day administration and address any pressing matters that may arise.

Commissioner Zango added that Governor Radda has absolute confidence in the leadership abilities of Malam Faruk Lawal, describing him as a capable and experienced leader who shares the same vision and commitment to the state’s progress.

“The governor is certain that the deputy will carry out his duties with the same dedication and responsibility expected of the office,” the Commissioner stated.

Governor Radda concluded by reaffirming his determination to return to office revitalised and ready to continue delivering on his administration’s promises to the people of Katsina State. He appealed to residents to remain united, law-abiding, and supportive of the government’s initiatives while he is away.
