The Federal Government has announced that it will partner with legendary Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, in a public sensitisation campaign aimed at promoting proper airport security procedures across the country.

The move comes in the wake of a recent incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which sparked widespread debate over the conduct of the music star.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed the development on Wednesday in an official statement detailing the Federal Government’s response to a series of recent incidents involving breaches of airport decorum and aviation regulations.
Keyamo said the decision reflects a broader strategy to combine regulatory enforcement with public awareness and behavioural change campaigns.
According to the statement, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reviewed KWAM 1’s case and resolved to reduce his earlier flight ban to a suspension of one month.

During and after this period, he will be engaged in collaborative efforts with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to use his influence as a celebrated public figure to educate travellers on the need to respect security and operational guidelines at airports.
The Minister added that, in view of KWAM 1’s public expression of remorse and penitence, the NCAA will also withdraw the criminal complaint previously lodged against him with the Nigeria Police Force. Keyamo described this resolution as a balanced approach that enforces discipline while also allowing room for rehabilitation and public service.
Other Disciplinary Cases Resolved
The statement further addressed another high-profile disciplinary matter involving Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba of VALUEJET Airlines.

Both pilots had been sanctioned by the NCAA following a breach of operational protocols. Keyamo revealed that their professional licenses will be reinstated after a similar one-month suspension, but only upon completion of a mandatory professional reappraisal programme designed to refresh and assess their compliance with industry standards.
He noted that the NCAA will announce further details regarding the re-evaluation process in the coming days, adding that these measures are intended not only to correct the specific incidents but also to reinforce a culture of discipline, safety, and professionalism in the aviation sector.
“The NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward.Â
“Having publicly demonstrated penitence, the NCAA is also to withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 earlier lodged with the Police.
“In the case of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba of VALUEJET, the NCAA is to restore their licenses after the same period of one-month ban after undergoing some mandatory professional re-appraisal. The details will be announced by the NCAA.”
