The political parties contesting in the August 16 by-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency have signed the peace Accord. A guarantee of their commitment to peace and tranquility before, during and after the August 16th election.
The signing of the peace accord was done today 13th August 2025 at the MUTIU AGBOKE collation centre, Agodi INEC Office, Ibadan ,Oyo state.

Candidates and representatives of the INEC approved political parties were all present at the peace Accord signing event.
APC’s Olatunji Murphy, Dr. Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu of ADC,
PDP’s Folajimi Oyekunle,
Hammed Badmus of Zenith Labour Party and
Olabisi Olajumoke Odususi, All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA.
The peace accord was signed in the presence of Stakeholders and security apparatus in Oyo State.
In his speech. The resident electoral Commissioner of Oyo State, Dr. Adediran Rahmon urged stakeholders to adhere to the principles outlined in the peace accord.
He encouraged all fagbearers and their supporters to maintain high-level decorum, civility and sportsmanship during the electoral process.
Dr. Adediran Rahmon assured the the public of INEC’s commitment to conducting a credible election.

Meanwhile a mild drama occurred during the process as the chairman of the Social Democratic Party SDP Okunlade Micheal protested the non inclusion of his party and candidate in the peace accord list.

Mr. Okunlade while speaking with Ireport247news correspondenct insisted that the SDP had done the needful by thoroughly following the regulations and procedures involved in the electoral process and validly nominated a candidate Dr. Islamiyat Abdulkadir has it’s flagbearer hence the omission must be addressed.
The REC, assured the protesting party of a level playing group and prompt attendance to their grievances/ complaints.
The stakeholders were also urged to ensure they play their part in ensuring a successful and credible bye-Election.
