American rap superstar Young Thug has joined the growing list of global celebrities congratulating Nigerian music icon Davido and his wife Chioma Rowland following their glamorous white wedding in Miami, Florida, over the weekend.

The much-anticipated ceremony, which Davido himself revealed had a jaw-dropping $3.7 million price tag, brought together A-list entertainers, political dignitaries, and business elites from across the world. It marked the couple’s second official wedding event after their traditional marriage in Lagos earlier in the year.
Although Young Thug — real name Jeffrey Lamar Williams — couldn’t physically attend due to restrictions stemming from his 2024 release from jail in connection with a high-profile RICO case, the Atlanta rapper still found a way to be part of the celebration.
On the wedding day, he FaceTimed the couple, beaming with smiles and offering heartfelt congratulations. The special moment was captured and shared by Davido’s close associate Tycoone, who posted a screen recording on Instagram Stories with the hit track Shopping Spree — a Davido collaboration featuring Young Thug and Chris Brown — playing in the background.
In the video, Young Thug can be seen waving and grinning widely as Davido and Chioma responded with laughter and warmth.
Davido and Chioma’s Miami white wedding has dominated entertainment headlines globally, not only for its extravagant budget but also for its star-studded guest list. Social media has been flooded with photos and videos from the event, showing luxury décor, designer outfits, and bespoke jewellery — including the $300,000 Richard Mille diamond watch Davido gifted Chioma.
The Afrobeats megastar also made an emotional tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, wearing custom cufflinks engraved with the boy’s image. In his touching wedding vows, Davido described Chioma as “God’s gift” and the person who showed him “unconditional love.”

Young Thug’s connection with Davido goes beyond music collaborations. The pair have often expressed mutual respect, with Davido calling Thug “a real brother” in interviews. Their 2021 single Shopping Spree became a fan favourite, blending Afrobeats with Atlanta trap influences.
Industry insiders say Young Thug’s virtual appearance underscores the global bonds Afrobeats has built with the American hip-hop community.
The wedding’s opulence has once again put Nigerian entertainment on the world stage, showing the economic power and cultural influence of Afrobeats. Luxury brands, tourism operators, and fashion houses are also believed to have benefited from the international attention.
For Young Thug, still navigating legal challenges and a partial performance ban, the event provided an opportunity to show solidarity with African music culture, further solidifying his influence beyond the United States.
