Nigerian midfielder Chioma Olise has set her sights on winning the Turkish Women’s League title after signing a one-year contract extension with Trabzonspor Women, the club confirmed.
The 22-year-old earned the extension following a strong debut season after joining the club earlier this year from Edo Queens, the 2023/24 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions. She originally signed a one-and-a-half-year deal but impressed enough for the club to offer new terms ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“For me, it was an easy decision,” Olise told reporters. “Trabzonspor believed in me from the beginning, and I feel at home here — both on and off the pitch. The fans, my teammates, and the entire environment push me to be better every day.”
“The target this season is winning the league, and I’m focused on giving 100 per cent every time I wear the jersey. I want to improve my numbers too — more goals, more assists, and more influence on games.”
From NWFL Champion to European Ambitions
Olise made a mark in her first season in Turkey, notably scoring a goal as a second-half substitute in a 4-0 win over ALG Spor, a performance that showcased her growing influence in the team.
Her football journey began with Royal Queens, where she helped the club gain promotion to the NWFL Premiership. She rose to prominence at Edo Queens, playing a pivotal role in their 2023/24 league title win under coach Moses Aduku.
She also captained the Benin City-based club to victory in the WAFU-B (West Africa Zone) Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast and led them to a fourth-place finish at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.
On the International Stage
Olise’s performances at club level earned her a call-up to the Super Falcons in October 2024, where she featured in a two-legged friendly against Algeria. She also represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in both 2022 and 2024.
As she prepares for her second season in Turkey, the midfielder is determined to add silverware to her growing résumé and further establish herself as a key figure in both club and country.
