A tragic twist has emerged in the investigation into the killing of a senior officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State, as a key suspect has died after allegedly leaping from a moving vehicle while in custody.

The deceased suspect, a 45-year-old man from Shuwarin Town in Kiyawa Local Government Area, was believed to have played a role in the brutal killing of Superintendent of Corps (SC) Bashir Adamu-Jibril. Adamu-Jibril, who served in the NSCDC’s Department of Intelligence and Investigation, was attacked by suspected hoodlums on official duty at Shuwarin Market.
Reports indicate that the assailants, allegedly butchers, struck him with a machete, inflicting a deep wound to the back of his head, which ultimately claimed his life.
Confirming the development, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Jigawa, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, said the suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 7, following credible intelligence linking him to the killing.

“We successfully apprehended the suspect at Shuwarin Town after receiving reliable information about his involvement,” Tijjani disclosed.
According to him, the incident occurred while the suspect was being transported at high speed to the NSCDC command headquarters in Dutse.
“While in transit, he somehow managed to break free from his handcuffs and jumped out of the moving vehicle in an attempt to escape,” Tijjani recounted. The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately rushed to Dutse General Hospital, where a doctor on duty pronounced him dead.

Tijjani reiterated the Corps’ determination to ensure justice is served for the late officer. He assured that the command remains committed to pursuing all individuals connected to the crime and to sustaining its efforts in maintaining law and order across Jigawa State.
