Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has firmly dismissed widespread speculations linking him to a possible governorship bid under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Ambode made it clear that his political allegiance remains with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He stressed that there is no truth whatsoever to rumours of his defection or gubernatorial ambitions outside the ruling party.
“I wish to publicly reaffirm my absolute and unshakable loyalty to the APC, the party under which I had the privilege of serving Lagos State as governor in 2015, and to President Bola Tinubu — my leader, mentor, and a tireless champion for Nigeria’s progress,” Ambode declared.

Speaking further, the former governor praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a “proven achiever and result-oriented leader” whose administration has brought about notable reforms across various sectors.
According to him, key milestones of the current administration include reforms in the pension system, improved access to student loans, initiatives for youth empowerment, and policies aimed at stimulating economic growth.
Ambode also highlighted significant improvements in national issues such as the eradication of fuel scarcity, enhanced security measures, and social policies targeted at improving the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
“His focus, determination, and inclusive governance style are restoring hope and delivering tangible results,” Ambode said. “I am convinced that, given another four years, Nigerians will have even greater reason to celebrate.”

The former governor concluded his statement with a pledge of continued cooperation and commitment to the APC’s political success: “Let it be clear: I stand solidly with President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. We will work together to ensure victory in 2027 so we can continue delivering the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians.”
With this emphatic declaration, Ambode has effectively put to rest any speculation about his possible political move to another party, while positioning himself as a loyal supporter and active stakeholder in the APC’s drive to retain national leadership.
