Paris Saint-Germain have reached a full agreement with Lille for the signing of goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier in a deal worth €40 million, excluding bonuses, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 23-year-old will sign a five-year contract with the French champions and is set to undergo his medical on Friday. An official announcement from the club is expected shortly thereafter.

Chevalier Set to Replace Donnarumma as PSG’s No.1

Chevalier is expected to become PSG’s first-choice goalkeeper next season, replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose future at the club remains uncertain. The Italian international has entered the final year of his contract and has so far rejected the club’s renewal offer.

PSG are reportedly willing to offload Donnarumma this summer to avoid losing him for free in 2026. While the 25-year-old remains open to a new challenge after leading PSG to a historic treble in 2024/25, no concrete offers have yet materialized.

Regardless of Donnarumma’s status, manager Luis Enrique has guaranteed Chevalier the starting role, marking a clear shift in the club’s goalkeeping hierarchy.

Rising Star with Major Recognition

Chevalier has earned recognition as one of Europe’s top emerging goalkeepers following standout performances for Lille in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season. His consistency and shot-stopping ability have earned him a nomination for the 2025 Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or gala.

Both Manchester United and Barcelona had expressed interest in the French shot-stopper, but PSG have won the race for his signature in a major coup for their long-term planning.

He becomes PSG’s second summer signing, following the arrival of 19-year-old Renato Martin from AS Roma.

More Deals on the Horizon

PSG’s summer rebuild continues to gather pace, with the club also close to completing a deal for Bournemouth centre-back Illia Zabarnyi. The Ukrainian international is expected to move for a fee of €63 million.
