Newcastle United have increased their offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko to £69.7 million (€80m) in a fixed fee, plus add-ons, according to multiple reports from Germany.

As first revealed by Ireport247news on Saturday, Newcastle initially submitted a bid of £65.3m plus £4.36m (€75m + €5m) in performance-related bonuses. Negotiations over the structure of the deal have since progressed, prompting the Magpies to raise their offer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are expected to make a formal offer for Sesko, having already held discussions with Leipzig regarding the striker’s valuation. Although Sesko is reportedly open to both projects, sources suggest he is leaning towards a move to United, if a deal can be agreed.

United’s interest in Sesko casts uncertainty over Rasmus Højlund’s future at Old Trafford. The club is believed to be open to listening to offers for the Danish forward, despite his strong showing in pre-season, including a goal in a 4-1 win over Bournemouth.

While United had been expected to sell before buying, it’s understood Ruben Amorim’s side can make signings before offloading players—as long as sales are completed before the transfer window closes.

RB Leipzig, in turn, have expressed interest in Højlund, exploring a potential loan deal as part of negotiations involving Sesko.

The Austrian striker missed Leipzig’s weekend friendly loss to Atalanta, further fueling speculation over his departure. According to Sky in Germany, he has informed teammates of his intention to leave.

Leipzig’s managing director of sport, Marcel Schäfer, confirmed multiple clubs have submitted offers for Sesko:

“We won’t go into detail on that, but when I say several clubs have shown strong interest and made approaches, it’s obvious what has happened.”

In a separate development, Newcastle are also monitoring Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, who was absent from the squad for their friendly against QPR, as he pushes for a move.

While nothing is finalized, a scenario where Sesko joins Manchester United and Højlund remains at the club has not been ruled out.
