Several warehouses were discovered to be stocked with a wide range of products—particularly cosmetics and food items—many of which lacked valid NAFDAC registration numbers, expiration dates, or labeling details required under Nigerian law.
In a decisive enforcement operation, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated banned, expired, and unregistered products with an estimated market value exceeding N1.5 billion.
The large-scale raid was conducted at the cosmetics section of the Lagos Trade Fair Complex, a major commercial hub in Nigeria.

The operation, which is part of NAFDAC’s ongoing nationwide campaign against the circulation of unsafe and substandard consumer goods, was led by Dr. Martins Iluyomade, the Director of the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate.
According to the agency, several warehouses were discovered to be stocked with a wide range of products—particularly cosmetics and food items—many of which lacked valid NAFDAC registration numbers, expiration dates, or labeling details required under Nigerian law.
A trailer loaded with these unregulated products was successfully evacuated from the premises, while another trailer—filled with cosmetics—was intercepted during the exercise. The driver of the intercepted trailer reportedly fled the scene, but NAFDAC officers secured the vehicle and its contents to prevent further circulation of the items.
This latest operation marks one of the largest product seizures by NAFDAC in recent months, reflecting the agency’s strengthened resolve to rid Nigerian markets of harmful and counterfeit products.
The Agency emphasized that such enforcement actions are crucial to safeguarding public health and upholding regulatory standards for food, drugs, and cosmetics.
NAFDAC also used the opportunity to caution the public against patronizing vendors of unregistered or suspicious goods. The Agency called on Nigerians to remain alert, avoid purchasing unverified products, and report any questionable items or activities to relevant authorities.
Through sustained surveillance and enforcement efforts, NAFDAC reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring that only safe, quality-assured products are made available to consumers across the country.
