Controversial Nigerian social commentator and self-proclaimed activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has made fresh claims regarding the fallout from the late singer Mohbad’s tragic death, implicating actress Iyabo Ojo and revealing behind-the-scenes legal deliberations with singer Naira Marley.

In a video shared via his verified TikTok page, VDM disclosed that he advised Naira Marley to initiate legal action against Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of defamation and cyberbullying during the tense period following Mohbad’s passing. According to him, Ojo’s statements significantly damaged Marley’s reputation and career, especially after widespread public accusations linking the Marlian Music boss and his associate Sam Larry to the singer’s death.

VDM recounted that he and Naira Marley had agreed on a course of action to confront Iyabo Ojo at the Lagos State Commissioner of Police’s office. The plan, he said, was for Marley to lodge a formal complaint and seek her arrest for allegedly defaming him across social media platforms.

“I told Naira Marley to detain Iyabo Ojo but he said Allah will judge. I told him to act furious the moment we entered the Commissioner’s office, and to declare that her defamatory remarks had ruined his music career,” VDM narrated.

However, the meeting reportedly took a surprising turn. According to VDM, Iyabo Ojo rendered an emotional apology in Yoruba, which appeared to move Naira Marley to forgive her on the spot—much to VDM’s shock and dismay.

“I almost died where I was sitting. I was so upset and disappointed,” he said.

The activist also claimed that Sam Larry, who was present at the police station, reacted emotionally when Naira Marley accepted the apology. “When Sam Larry saw that Naira Marley had accepted Iyabo Ojo’s apology, he protested. I kept signalling Naira not to accept it because I knew Iyabo wouldn’t keep her word. Sam Larry shed tears,” VDM revealed.

The saga stems from the controversial circumstances surrounding the death of 27-year-old artist Mohbad in 2023. His passing sparked outrage across Nigeria, with fingers pointed at his former label boss, Naira Marley, and close associate Sam Larry. Public figures like Iyabo Ojo actively campaigned for justice for Mohbad, with Ojo particularly vocal on social media platforms—posts which Marley now reportedly views as defamatory.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian Police Force exonerated both Marley and Sam Larry of any criminal culpability in connection with Mohbad’s death. They were cleared by the court approximately four months ago following a detailed investigation.

This latest revelation adds fuel to the ongoing online feud between VeryDarkMan and Iyabo Ojo, with both influencers frequently clashing on social media over issues relating to the late singer. Recently, Ojo accused VDM of leaking private group chats, while VDM has labelled her manipulative and deceitful.

The Mohbad saga continues to dominate headlines and ignite debate across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with fans and critics alike dissecting the roles played by stakeholders in the tragedy’s aftermath.
