The Police Service Commission (PSC) has raised an alarm, cautioning Nigerians to remain vigilant and disregard any claims suggesting that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for the position of constable has begun.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the spokesperson of the Commission, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, categorically dismissed recent messages making the rounds on social media platforms as false, deceptive, and mischievous. He clarified that the 2025 recruitment process for police constables has not yet commenced.

According to Ani, the Commission has not initiated any recruitment exercise and will only begin the process through well-established procedures when the time is right. He urged prospective applicants and members of the public to patiently await an official announcement directly from the Commission rather than relying on unverified online claims.

“The Commission has not commenced this exercise and will follow due process when it is ready to do so,” the statement read in part. “We advise interested candidates to disregard such misleading publications and wait for official communication through the appropriate channels.”

The PSC also condemned what it described as a recurring trend by fraudsters to exploit recruitment periods by spreading false information to mislead unsuspecting job seekers. The Commission expressed concern over the continued attempts to defraud citizens and destabilize its recruitment process through these fraudulent schemes.

It strongly warned individuals or groups involved in such deceitful acts to desist immediately, as those found guilty will face the full weight of the law. The Commission also called on relevant security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking and prosecuting such criminals in order to uphold the credibility and transparency of the recruitment process.

Reaffirming its commitment to fairness, the PSC assured Nigerians that the upcoming police recruitment will be conducted with the highest standards of transparency and in full compliance with established rules and guidelines.
