PDP Releases Timetable for 2025 Elective National Convention

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally released the timetable for its forthcoming elective national convention, scheduled to take place on November 15 and 16, 2025.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja and signed by the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, the party outlined key dates and processes leading up to the convention. According to the schedule, the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms will begin on Tuesday, September 3 and conclude on Sunday, September 22. All completed forms are expected to be returned by Thursday, September 26.

The screening of aspirants has been fixed for Monday, September 30, followed by the publication of the list of cleared aspirants on Thursday, October 3. Subsequently, screening appeal sessions will take place on Sunday, October 6, while the final list of aspirants will be officially released on Thursday, October 10.

Furthermore, the PDP has announced that the formal handover to new national officers is scheduled to occur between December 1 and December 8, 2025.

Just days earlier, IREPORT247NEWS reported that the PDP had also unveiled a separate, comprehensive timetable for its upcoming 2025 party congresses to be conducted across 13 states of the federation.

According to that timetable, the entire congress process will commence with a membership registration exercise, open to both new and existing party members. This registration window will run from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Once registration concludes, the party will commence the sale of nomination and ad-hoc delegate forms on Monday, August 18, with the process set to end on Friday, August 29. All aspirants contesting various positions within the party are expected to submit their completed nomination forms no later than Friday, September 5, 2025. Read more.



The outlined schedule reflects the PDP’s commitment to due process, transparency, and orderly internal democratic practices as it prepares for leadership transitions and the strengthening of its party structure ahead of future national elections.
