Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held on Friday in Uromi, Governor Okpebholo addressed members of the newly formed campaign team, urging them to intensify efforts in mobilizing support at the community level. He specifically called on the youth to take ownership of the campaign and rally behind the APC’s senatorial candidate.

According to the governor, this election marks a crucial political test for the younger generation. He emphasized that it presents a significant opportunity for youths to demonstrate their electoral influence and political relevance in the state.

“This election is your chance to prove a point,” Okpebholo told the team. “It’s time to go from door to door, from village to village, and tell the people the truth about our party and our candidate. Edo is experiencing genuine development under the APC-led administration. As we embrace light, darkness continues to fade.”

The governor strongly cautioned against placing trust in candidates from rival political parties, citing their previous tenures as marked by stagnation and neglect. He accused the opposition of failing to address the fundamental needs of the people during their prolonged years in power.

“For years, the opposition ruled Edo Central, yet the people lived without essential infrastructure. There were no quality schools, no good roads, no electricity—basic necessities were completely absent,” he said.

In contrast, Okpebholo highlighted the achievements of his administration, stating that ongoing development efforts in education, road infrastructure, and electrification have significantly improved the quality of life for residents in Edo.

He further declared that the APC is fully prepared to sweep all five local government areas in Edo Central during the senatorial election. “We are not taking anything for granted. We are confident of victory—five out of five. This is part of our broader mission to deliver 2.5 million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.”

Also speaking at the event, retired General Cecil Esekhaigbe, the APC leader in Edo Central Senatorial District, echoed the governor’s call. He urged young people across the region to unite and fully support Joe Ikpea’s candidacy, stressing that collective action and unity are vital to securing the APC’s victory.
