The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially released a detailed timetable for its 2025 congresses scheduled to be held across 13 states in Nigeria.
The timetable was announced by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, in a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.
According to the released schedule, the entire congress process will commence with a membership registration exercise. This exercise, which is open to both new and existing members of the party, will run from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Following the registration period, the sale of nomination and ad-hoc forms will begin on Monday, August 18 and conclude on Friday, August 29. Aspirants vying for various party positions are expected to complete and submit their nomination forms no later than Friday, September 5, 2025.
The timetable outlines a three-tiered electoral process at the ward, local government, and state levels. The ward congresses, during which ward executives and three ad-hoc delegates will be elected, are scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 13. Any appeals arising from these ward congresses will be addressed on Wednesday, September 17.
Next, the local government congresses will be conducted on Saturday, September 20. These will result in the election of local government area (LGA) executives as well as national delegates. Appeals related to these LGA congresses are scheduled for consideration on Wednesday, September 24.
The final phase of the congresses will be at the state level. State congresses, during which new state executives will be elected, are scheduled for Saturday, September 27. Any appeals arising from the state-level congresses will be reviewed on Wednesday, September 30.
The 13 states where these congresses will be held are: Adamawa, Borno, Edo, Kebbi, Kwara, Ondo, Oyo, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Plateau, and Cross River.
The PDP emphasized that this structured and transparent timeline is designed to provide a fair opportunity for all eligible party members to participate actively in the internal democratic processes of the party.
