Grammy-nominated Afrobeat sensation Omorinmade Anikulapo Kuti, popularly known as Made Kuti, captivated fans with a powerful showcase of rhythm, consciousness, and innovation during the listening party for his highly anticipated sophomore album, Chapter 1: Where Does Happiness Come From?
The event, which took place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the iconic New Afrikan Shrine in Lagos, was hosted by FK Management and anchored by media personalities Do2tun and Omo Baba 1. The night featured an intimate three-part performance that immersed attendees in the soul of Afrobeat while shedding light on pressing social issues.

Made Kuti performed a curated selection from the 13-track album, including thought-provoking songs such as Take It All In Before The Lights Go Out, Life As We Know It, I Won’t Run Away, Wait And See, and Our Own. The performance was punctuated with candid discussions where Made opened up about his musical journey, creative process, and the personal philosophies that shaped the album.
Chapter 1: Where Does Happiness Come From? continues Made’s legacy as a torchbearer of the Kuti family’s Afrobeat dynasty, blending sharp lyrical content with live instrumentation, rich horns, and layered percussion.
The new project builds upon the success of his debut album, For(e)word, which formed part of the 2022 joint release Legacy+, alongside his father Femi Kuti’s Stop The Hate. That body of work earned Made his first Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album in 2022.
Three years later, Chapter 1 marks a deeper introspection and boldness in Made’s voice—both literally and artistically—as he explores themes of identity, systemic dysfunction, resilience, and the quest for inner peace.

Encouraging listeners to embrace the album’s messages, Made said:
“This is not just music to dance to—it’s music to think to, feel to, and grow with. I hope it makes people reflect on where happiness really comes from.”
The album is now available for streaming across all major platforms, and early reviews praise its sonic richness and lyrical depth as a fresh yet authentic addition to Nigeria’s evolving Afrobeat scene.
