A coordinated security operation carried out in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, has resulted in the neutralization of two suspected kidnappers, with several items recovered from their hideout.

The operation, which took place on Wednesday, July 30, was executed by a joint team comprising military personnel from the 63 Brigade Asaba, the Divisional Police Headquarters Ogwashi-Uku, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad Asaba, and the Edo-Ogwashi community security outfit.
The breakthrough was publicly disclosed by prominent human rights advocate, Harrison Gwamnishu, who also shared video footage showing the bodies of the neutralized suspects and the items recovered during the raid.

Among the recovered items were a cache of ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, three fully loaded AK-47 magazines, and 16 live rounds. Additionally, a substantial sum of money—believed to be part of the ransom paid by families of previous kidnap victims—was retrieved from the criminals’ hideout.
According to Mr. Gwamnishu, the kidnappers had recently abducted two female students from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, in the Azagba-Ogwashi area near the Rain Oil gas station. They were also implicated in the abduction and shooting of an estate supervisor in Ubulu-Okiti.

“NDI Ogwashi-Uku, we achieved a significant breakthrough at Edo-Ogwashi-Uku, which is worth sharing,” Gwamnishu wrote. “It is important we acknowledge those who put their lives on the line to keep others safe.”
He emphasized that the success of the operation was largely made possible through the use of tracking technology provided by the Delta State Government House in Asaba. He further noted that while two of the kidnappers were neutralized during the operation, others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.
Gwamnishu extended his heartfelt appreciation to various contributors, including Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his steadfast support in equipping and empowering security teams.
He also thanked the Commander of the 63 Brigade Garrison, as well as military officials overseeing Oshimili North and Aniocha South, for their swift deployment of troops. His gratitude was also directed to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogwashi-Uku for his proactive involvement.
Lastly, Gwamnishu commended his dedicated team, particularly Intel officer Ejemizu Chidozie Peters, for their readiness and vigilance, noting that they remain committed to responding swiftly to credible threats and emergencies.
