The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken disciplinary action against some of its members who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The party announced on Thursday that these individuals have been officially expelled for their disloyalty and breach of party ethics.
This development was made known by Mr. Segun Edwards, spokesperson for the PDP Elders Caucus and Chairmen of the party across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. While addressing journalists, Edwards confirmed the expulsion but refrained from mentioning the names of the affected members.
According to him, the decision was taken at an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting convened to evaluate the implications of the resolutions made at the PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held the previous week in Abuja. The meeting brought together prominent elders of the party and LGA party chairmen, who deliberated extensively on issues affecting the party’s structure and internal unity in the state.
During the meeting, attendees condemned in strong terms the actions of certain members who publicly declared their allegiance to the ADC while still claiming to be members of the PDP. The elders and local government chairmen regarded such conduct as a flagrant violation of the party’s guiding principles and an affront to party discipline.

Mr. Edwards stated, “The stakeholders present at the meeting expressed deep disappointment over the public alignment of some PDP members with the ADC. It was unanimously agreed that such behavior amounted to the desecration of the core values of our party. Therefore, a motion was moved and overwhelmingly supported for their immediate expulsion from the PDP.”
In addition to the disciplinary action, the stakeholders’ forum also resolved that local government chairmen across the state should commence immediate preparations for the party’s upcoming congresses. These internal elections, which will span from the local government level up to the national level, are scheduled to be held between September and November 2025.
The party emphasized its commitment to restoring order, reinforcing loyalty, and ensuring that all members adhere strictly to the PDP’s constitution and ideals. It further warned that any act of disloyalty in the future would attract swift and decisive sanctions.
