Luis Díaz has been officially unveiled as a Bayern Munich player, with the Colombian winger revealing that former Liverpool teammate Florian Wirtz encouraged his move to the Bundesliga champions.

Bayern reportedly paid a fee that could rise to €75 million ($86.5 million) for the 28-year-old, who has signed a contract running until 2029. The deal makes Díaz the third most expensive signing in Bayern’s history.

Díaz, who spent only a few weeks with Wirtz at Liverpool following the German international’s June transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, said their brief conversations helped shape his decision.

“I spoke to Florian a few times and he told me the Bundesliga is very intense, similar to the Premier League—very physical, with stadiums that are always full,” Díaz said during his presentation on Thursday.

“He said that I’d enjoy it. He wished me luck. I thank him for that.”

Despite the significant transfer fee, Díaz played down any concerns over the pressure it might bring.

“I can’t say if I’m worth €70 million. I just want to settle in here as quickly as possible. That’s the most important thing.”

Only Harry Kane (€95m) and Lucas Hernandez (€80m) cost Bayern more in transfer fees.

Decorated Departure from Anfield

Díaz leaves Liverpool after a successful three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield, during which he won the Premier League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.

He was a key figure in Arne Slot’s title-winning side last season, registering 17 goals and eight assists in 50 appearances across all competitions, as Liverpool clinched their record-equalling 20th English league title.
