Tinubu Appoints Adeyemi as New Fire Service CG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General (DCG) Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the substantive Controller-General CG of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (rtd), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on behalf of the President.



DCG Adeyemi’s appointment is scheduled to take effect from August 14, 2025. It comes in anticipation of the statutory retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who will officially bow out of service on August 11, 2025, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.



The CDCFIB described the appointment as a natural progression, highlighting DCG Adeyemi’s vast experience and distinguished career in fire service management.

His journey began with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service, from where he transferred to the Federal Fire Service and rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.



According to the statement, DCG Adeyemi has undergone and successfully completed all compulsory in-service trainings and command courses required for top-level leadership in the fire service. His career also includes participation in specialized professional courses both within Nigeria and internationally.



In addition to his professional qualifications, the incoming Controller-General is affiliated with several prominent professional bodies.

He holds membership and fellow status in organizations such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.



The CDCFIB, while announcing the leadership transition, extended its profound appreciation to the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola.

The Board commended him for his exceptional leadership, dedication, and the numerous reforms and initiatives he introduced to modernize and improve the Federal Fire Service during his tenure.
