The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Augustina Mowari, a young woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, during a heated altercation over alleged infidelity.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday in Okitipupa, the administrative headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area in Ondo State.
According to police sources, the lovers had been living together in a one-room apartment and were said to have been experiencing repeated quarrels linked to mistrust and suspicions of cheating. The situation reportedly reached a breaking point on Sunday when another argument broke out, with Augustina accusing Michael of being unfaithful.
An eyewitness account revealed that during the confrontation, the disagreement escalated into physical violence. In the heat of the moment, Augustina allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed Michael in the leg.
“Both of them had been having issues related to trust,” a source familiar with the couple shared. “She confronted him again on Sunday over suspected infidelity, and it led to a fight. She stabbed him in the leg with a scissors.”
Following the attack, Michael was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received medical attention. He was treated, administered injections, and discharged with prescribed medications. However, his health reportedly worsened after he returned home.
“His leg began to swell, and his condition deteriorated,” the source continued. “He was taken back to the hospital later that night, but sadly, he didn’t make it. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he died.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that Augustina had been taken into custody as investigations into the matter had commenced.
“There was an argument between the two, which led to the suspect stabbing the victim with a pair of scissors,” Ayanlade said. “He later died in the hospital. The suspect is currently in custody, and once our investigations are concluded, the case will be charged to court.”
The police spokesperson assured that the command would ensure that justice is served, stressing that the case is being handled with the seriousness it deserves.
