Nigeria’s D’Tigress continued their remarkable dominance at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, securing a gritty 60–55 victory over Mozambique on Monday to seal a place in the quarterfinals and stretch their unbeaten streak in the competition to 26 games.

In a fiercely contested Group D showdown at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, the defending champions rallied from a 28–24 halftime deficit with a composed and clinical second-half performance.

D’Tigress edged the third quarter 18–15, before closing out the game with another strong 18–12 run in the final period. Murjanatu Musa led all scorers with 19 points, while Mozambique’s Leia Dongue contributed 11 in a losing effort.

Despite a poor shooting night from beyond the arc—converting just 13.04% of their three-point attempts compared to Mozambique’s 20%—Nigeria displayed their trademark resilience. A crucial 12-0 run in the third quarter proved pivotal, flipping the game’s momentum in the reigning champions’ favour.

With the win, Nigeria finished top of Group D, earning an automatic berth in the quarterfinals as they continue their quest for a record-extending sixth consecutive AfroBasket title.

D’Tigress are expected to return to the court later this week, aiming to maintain their continental dominance and reaffirm their status as Africa’s undisputed queens of the court.
