Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, have extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, following their remarkable victory over Morocco to clinch the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The pulsating final match, held in Rabat on Saturday, saw the Super Falcons deliver a stunning comeback, overturning a two-goal deficit in the second half to defeat the host nation, Morocco, in front of a packed stadium of home supporters.
Goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini sealed a dramatic 3-2 win and secured Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Reacting to the team’s feat, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the performance of the Nigerian women as “a flawless 10 out of 10,” praising their unwavering spirit, talent, and discipline.
