President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, received members of the 1999 class of governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja as part of ongoing political consultations with key stakeholders across the country.

The delegation of former governors was led by ex-Delta State Governor, James Ibori, who was among the pioneers of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic governance structure following the return to democratic rule in 1999.

Although the specific details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed as of the time of reporting, the visit is widely regarded as part of the President’s efforts to engage with experienced political leaders on issues of national importance.

The development was made public by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, who shared the information via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.

The 1999 class of governors is notable for its influential role in the early stages of Nigeria’s current democratic era. Many of its members have since remained active in national politics and governance.
