Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has once again melted hearts worldwide with an emotional tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke, nearly three years after the tragic incident that claimed the young boy’s life.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Davido posted a short but powerful message:
“Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND!!”

The heartfelt tribute instantly went viral, drawing thousands of emotional responses from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers who continue to sympathize with the singer over the loss.

Ifeanyi, who was Davido’s first son with his wife, celebrity chef Chioma Rowland, died on October 31, 2022, after drowning in a swimming pool at the family’s luxurious Banana Island residence in Lagos. At the time of the accident, both Davido and Chioma were away, and the Lagos State Police later confirmed that drowning was the cause of death following an autopsy.

Eight domestic workers were initially taken in for questioning, with two undergoing further investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The heartbreaking incident triggered an outpouring of grief across Nigeria and beyond. Celebrities, politicians, and international stars—including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, American rapper Meek Mill, and footballer Victor Moses—expressed condolences, describing the loss of a child as an unimaginable tragedy no parent should experience.

The death of Ifeanyi forced Davido to take an extended break from public appearances and music. However, he made a powerful return in 2023 with his critically acclaimed album “Timeless,” which was widely celebrated and marked a new phase in his career. The album not only helped him heal but also reaffirmed his resilience in the face of adversity.

In the same year, Davido and Chioma welcomed a set of twins in the United States, a development many fans described as a divine consolation after their devastating loss.

Davido’s tribute post has reignited global conversations about parental loss and emotional healing. Fans flooded social media with prayers and encouraging words for the singer and his family, while fellow celebrities also extended solidarity messages. Many praised Davido for staying strong, balancing his private grief with his public life as one of Africa’s biggest music stars.

Beyond his music, Davido has become a symbol of resilience and hope for millions. His ability to turn personal pain into creative energy has inspired many, while his public tribute to Ifeanyi reinforces his enduring love for his late son.

As one fan wrote in response to his post, “Legends never die, Ifeanyi lives on in our hearts.”
