The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced changes to the venue and time of its upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally slated for Thursday, July 24, 2025.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the NEC meeting will no longer hold at the APC National Secretariat located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, as initially planned.
Instead, it has been rescheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting is now scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m.
Morka explained that the change in venue was necessitated by “logistical reasons,” although he did not provide further specifics.
This NEC meeting comes at a critical moment for the ruling party, as it is expected to address pressing internal matters—most notably the endorsement of a new substantive National Chairman. This follows the resignation of the former party leader, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, which has created a leadership vacuum within the APC hierarchy.
In the wake of Ganduje’s exit, IREPORT247NEWS reported that the party moved swiftly to maintain continuity by appointing its Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, as the Acting National Chairman.
Meanwhile, political stakeholders from the North-Central region are voicing their concerns over the forthcoming leadership decisions.
The North-Central APC Forum has argued that the region should not be sidelined in the selection process for the next party chairman.
In its statement, the Forum emphasized that holding the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) should not be used as grounds to exclude the region from producing the next APC National Chairman.
The group insisted that the North-Central zone has consistently played a pivotal role in the growth and sustenance of the party and therefore deserves equitable consideration in the ongoing leadership restructuring.
As the NEC convenes, all eyes will be on the party’s leadership to see how it navigates this crucial transition period while maintaining unity and stability within its ranks.
