Reigning NPFL Champions Remo Stars Chairman, Kunle Soname, has rewarded the club’s historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title-winning squad with ₦25 million and gifted the team’s standout performer, Olamilekan Adedayo, a brand-new SUV during a celebratory gala held on Monday.

The gala, which marked Remo Stars’ maiden NPFL title triumph, was held at the club’s base in Ikenne, with players, coaches, officials, and supporters all in attendance.

Remo Stars clinched the 2024/25 NPFL title in emphatic style, finishing with 71 points, seven ahead of runners-up Rivers United, and finally lifting the league trophy after coming agonizingly close in the previous two seasons.

Generous Rewards Across the Board

Soname, a renowned sports entrepreneur and philanthropist, used the occasion to appreciate the entire club structure:

₦25 million to the NPFL-winning squad ₦10 million to Remo Stars Ladies, who reached the Super Six playoff of the Nigeria Women’s Football League ₦5 million to Beyond Limits, the club’s youth team, fresh from winning the prestigious Gothia Cup in Sweden ₦2 million to the Supporters Club, in recognition of their unwavering support throughout the season.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a brand-new SUV to Olamilekan Adedayo, who was named Remo Stars’ Best Player of the Season.

Adedayo’s Key Contributions

Adedayo played a pivotal role in the title run, finishing as the club’s top scorer with seven goals and one assist. Most of his goals proved decisive, including:

A long-range match-winner against Niger Tornadoes, which effectively secured the title. A crucial goal during their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Abia Warriors in Ikenne.

Continental Ambitions Ahead

With the NPFL title secured, Remo Stars now turn their attention to the CAF Champions League, where they will be aiming to reach the group stage for the first time after two failed attempts in recent years.

“This is not just about the reward; it’s about belief, culture, and pushing our limits. We’ve made history, but now we move forward to greater things,” Soname said during his address at the gala.

The club’s rise continues to inspire admiration across Nigerian football, and with a well-funded, youthful setup and strong leadership, Remo Stars look set to challenge on all fronts in 2025/26 season.
