Victor Osimhen is set to earn an eye-watering annual salary of €18 million (approximately ₦32 billion) following the completion of a high-profile transfer deal between Napoli and Turkish champions Galatasaray.

After weeks of drawn-out negotiations, both clubs have finally reached an agreement that will see the Nigerian striker return to Istanbul on a permanent basis, marking the end of one of this summer’s most protracted transfer sagas.

Despite receiving a staggering €160 million offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, Osimhen turned down the opportunity to move to the Middle East, opting instead to remain in Europe and rejoin Galatasaray—a club where he had previously excelled on loan during the 2024/25 season.

During that loan spell, Osimhen was in scintillating form, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances, and helping Galatasaray clinch both the Turkish Super Lig title and the domestic cup, solidifying his reputation as one of the most lethal forwards in European football.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray have now agreed to pay €75 million for the 26-year-old, with €40 million paid upfront and the remaining €35 million due by the end of 2026.

The deal also includes up to €5 million in performance-related bonuses, a 10% sell-on clause for Napoli, and an ‘anti-Serie A clause’ preventing Osimhen from joining any direct Italian rivals for the next two years.

Renowned Turkish transfer expert Hakan Gündoğar reported that Osimhen is expected to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow, where he will be given a ‘historic welcome’ as Galatasaray prepare to officially unveil him as their marquee signing.

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira also confirmed that Osimhen will sign a four-year contract with the Turkish giants, earning him a yearly salary of €18 million, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league’s history.

While several Premier League clubs—including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle United had shown interest in signing the former African Footballer of the Year, none were able to meet his wage demands. Consequently, a move to England failed to materialize.

Osimhen’s decision to snub offers from Saudi Arabia and the Premier League highlights his desire to continue playing at the top level of European football, with Galatasaray now poised to build their attack for next years around one of Africa’s most prolific strikers.
