Manchester United have completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for an initial fee of £65 million, with a further £6 million in potential add-ons.
The 25-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract, with an option for an additional 12 months, and will wear the No. 19 shirt.

The transfer brings to a close one of the longest-running sagas of the summer window, with United making three separate bids before finally securing their man.
Their initial £55m offer in early June was rejected, followed by a second bid of £62.5m. A third and final offer, reportedly accepted last week, sealed the deal.
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams — the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” said Mbeumo.
“My mentality is always to be better than I was yesterday. I know I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from manager Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”
A Premier League Standout
Mbeumo joins United after a standout 2024/25 season with Brentford, where he scored 20 goals and provided eight assists — both career highs — in the Premier League.
Since arriving in West London from Troyes in 2019, he tallied 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 games across all competitions.

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, hailed the signing:
“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional. His remarkable consistency has put him among the most productive players in England over the last three seasons.
“His belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture we are developing.”
The move also marks Brentford’s biggest-ever sale, surpassing the £40m received from Al-Ahli for Ivan Toney in 2024. Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, paid tribute to Mbeumo:
“Bryan came to us as a teenager, and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch him grow as a player and person.
There is always a right time for a player to move on — and for Bryan, that time is now. He has the opportunity to go to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and we are happy for him.”
Amorim’s Key Signing
Mbeumo becomes Ruben Amorim’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of forward Matheus Cunha and left-back Diego Leon. He is expected to travel with the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States on Tuesday July 22nd.

The Cameroon international is known not just for his attacking output but also for his work ethic and versatility:
He ranked third in the Premier League for ball recoveries in the opposition third (32). He led the league in progressive carries leading directly to goals (nine) during the 2024/25 season.
A Hard-Fought Transfer
Negotiations between United and Brentford were prolonged and tense, with Brentford reportedly frustrated by shifting valuations and preferring to sell the player to Tottenham or Newcastle, who were also interested.
At one point, Brentford hinted that Mbeumo may need to adjust his personal terms to facilitate the move, but the final agreement was eventually reached without that compromise.

Despite stiff competition — including late interest from Arsenal and Chelsea — United succeeded in landing one of their top attacking targets, viewed as a coup considering the club finished 15th last season and is without Champions League football.
“Whatever the rights and wrongs of how they went about it, United got their man,” noted an insider.
“It’s a major boost for Ruben Amorim and evidence that United can still attract top-tier talent despite a difficult season.”
With Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona close to completion and several squad decisions pending, United still have business to do before the transfer window closes on 1 September. But for now, the arrival of Mbeumo represents a statement of intent from a club eager to turn the page.
