Justice Friday Oghazi of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail in the sum of N10 million to social media activist and influencer, Scott Iguma, who is facing allegations of posting false videos, issuing threats to life, and engaging in criminal defamation.
In a ruling delivered on Iguma’s bail application, Justice Oghazi held that the court was satisfied with the conditions proposed and consequently admitted the defendant to bail.
The bail was set at N10 million with one surety in like sum. The surety is required to present valid documents verifying ownership of property within the court’s jurisdiction or, alternatively, be a civil servant with the Federal Government or Lagos State Government, not below grade level 12, along with evidence of consistent tax payment.
Furthermore, the judge cautioned all parties involved — including the nominal complainant and the defendant — against making public comments or social media posts relating to the ongoing case. He emphasized that since the matter is before the court, both parties and their legal representatives must ensure their clients comply with this directive.
Iguma was arraigned on July 17, 2025, by the Nigerian Police on a four-count charge linked to the publication of a false video and issuing life-threatening statements. The charges were brought under Section 24 (1)(b) and are punishable under Section 24 (2)(ii) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2024 (as amended).
During the bail hearing, Iguma’s counsel, Mr. Stanley Alieke, presented a motion dated July 17, 2025, supported by an affidavit. He urged the court to grant bail on the most liberal terms. The prosecuting counsel, Mr. A.O. Nwabuisi, did not oppose the bail application but requested the court to caution the defence against further social media posts revealing details about the nominal complainant.
In response, Alieke asked that the petitioner equally be restrained from making public statements, especially through media interviews and blogs. Justice Oghazi agreed and instructed all legal counsel to communicate the court’s order to their clients, ensuring adherence.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to October 10, 2025, for trial.
IREPORT247NEWS had earlier reported that Scott Iguma was ordered to be remanded in custody by the same court in Ikoyi, Lagos, following his arraignment.
The remand order followed his arrest on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, Lagos.
Iguma faces a 10-count indictment for allegedly disseminating defamatory and false information against the real estate company, Â PWAN Group, on his social media platforms.

The Police claim that Iguma posted a series of videos and statements accusing PWAN of collecting funds from investors without allocating the promised land parcels. In one of his viral posts, he described the founder of the company as “the leader of the thieves.”
