Oluremi Tinubu Leads Delegation to Buhari’s Family for Condolence

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday, led a high-powered delegation of spouses of public office holders to Daura in Katsina State to offer heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who recently passed away.



The First Lady announced the visit in a post shared via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where she expressed her personal grief and extended the sympathies of the entire nation.

She disclosed that the visit was not only in her personal capacity but also on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the women of Nigeria.



“Today, I paid a condolence visit to Daura, Katsina State, to commiserate with the beloved widow and family of our dearly departed former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” she wrote.


During the visit, Senator Tinubu was accompanied by notable dignitaries including the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abass; the wife of the Deputy Senate President, Hajia Laila Barau; wives of various State Governors; wives of Federal Ministers; wives of Service Chiefs; and several other distinguished women leaders.



In her condolence message, the First Lady paid glowing tribute to the late President Buhari, describing him as a statesman of rare integrity, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to the progress and unity of Nigeria. She remarked that his life was a testament to selfless service, nation-building, and the pursuit of the welfare of the ordinary Nigerian.



“President Buhari was not only a statesman but a symbol of integrity, discipline, and devotion to Nigeria. His life was marked by an unyielding commitment to public service and the upliftment of the common man. He served our dear nation with honour, both as a military Head of State and as a democratically elected President,” she emphasized.



Senator Tinubu further relayed the condolences of President Tinubu and the collective sympathies of Nigerian women to the widow of the late President, Her Excellency Hajiya Aisha Buhari, and the entire Buhari family. She prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and for the peaceful repose of the former President.



“We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” she concluded.
