Video: Prince Kalu Elected RATTAWU National President

Prince Emeka Kalu of the Anambra Broadcasting Service and the Anambra State chapter of the Radio, Television, Theatre Arts and Workers Union (RATTAWU) of Nigeria has emerged as the newly elected National President of RATTAWU.

His victory was declared at the union’s 2025 National Delegates Conference, which was held in Gombe, the capital of Gombe State.



Announcing the election results, the returning officer, Comrade Muttaka from the Nigeria Labour Congress, revealed that Prince Kalu, fondly nicknamed Magic Finger, secured a total of 276 votes to clinch the presidency.

He was trailed by Mrs. Opi Erik, who garnered 141 votes, followed by Dare Duresemi with 126 votes, and Jespa, who managed 5 votes.



In his acceptance speech, Prince Kalu expressed profound gratitude to the delegates for their confidence in his leadership.

He pledged to reposition the union for greater impact and development, assuring members that his administration would work tirelessly to uphold their interests and advance the objectives of RATTAWU.



The election also produced other key national officers. Comrade Babangida Umar Zurmi was elected Deputy National President. Murtala Usman Madobi from Jigawa State emerged as Vice President for the North-West zone, while Ahmed Mohd was elected National Treasurer.

The position of Vice President for the South-East went to Nwanwevele Azvewa, while Dahiru Aliyu Dadi clinched the Vice President role for the North-East. Komolafe Felix Olukole was elected Vice President for the South-West, Terry Isaac Idahor for the South-South, and Umar Abdullahi Kinta for the North-Central.



Additionally, Izang Francis Atsen was elected as the National Publicity Secretary, Enegide Charles as the Financial Secretary, and Fatima Galadima emerged as the National Auditor. Joseph Olujimi Gansallo was also elected into the national executive council.



The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade Abubakar Musa Dakina, congratulated all the winners and wished them success in their respective roles.

Similarly, Comrade Babangida Mamuda Biyamusu, Chairman of the RATTAWU Kano Council, extended his felicitations to the newly elected national officers, commending them on their electoral victories.



With this new leadership in place, expectations are high among members that RATTAWU will experience renewed vigor and purposeful direction under Prince Emeka Kalu’s stewardship.
