The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami, today paid a familiarisation visit to the leadership of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the league’s headquarters in Abuja.

During the courtesy call, Hon. Salami was warmly received by the NPFL Chairman, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both administrators to discuss key matters relating to the development of club football in Nigeria, with a specific focus on enhancing the competitiveness and visibility of the domestic league.

According to sources close to the meeting, the two football administrators exchanged ideas on critical areas such as improved welfare for players and officials, commercial partnerships, infrastructure development, and how to strengthen league operations for the upcoming NPFL season.

Hon. Salami, who assumed office as 3SC chairman earlier this month, emphasized his club’s commitment to contributing positively to the growth of the NPFL and expressed appreciation for the work being done by the league’s leadership under Hon. Elegbeleye.

“This visit is part of our broader engagement to align with the NPFL leadership and to explore avenues of collaboration that can benefit not only 3SC but the entire league structure,” Hon. Salami noted after the meeting.

In response, NPFL Chairman Hon. Elegbeleye commended the 3SC boss for the visit and reiterated the league’s commitment to supporting clubs through progressive reforms and stronger partnerships.

He also expressed optimism about 3SC’s role in elevating the quality of the NPFL, given the club’s storied history and massive followership in the league.

The meeting, though brief, was described as productive and timely as preparations intensify ahead of the 2025/26 NPFL season.
