Nigerian President Tinubu Visits Kano to Condole with Dantata Family

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to visit Kano today, Friday, July 18, to personally extend his condolences to the family of the late business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

This information was made public by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.



Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a respected nonagenarian and one of Nigeria’s foremost businessmen, died in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 94.

Family sources revealed that his passing resulted from complications associated with age-related ailments. He reportedly passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.



Following his death, the late Dantata was buried beside his wife’s grave at the historic Al-Baqi Cemetery in the holy city of Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1, 2025.

President Tinubu, who was outside the country at the time of the elder statesman’s passing, directed a high-level delegation led by the Minister of Defence to attend the burial rites in Saudi Arabia, as a sign of honour and respect for the deceased.



IREPORT247NEWS reported that Vice President Kashim Shettima had earlier led a presidential delegation to Kano for a condolence visit to the bereaved family on behalf of the President.

During the visit, Shettima conveyed the President’s sympathies and offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the late patriarch.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Vice President Shettima said, “I am here on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pray and express heartfelt sympathies to the Dantata family over the loss of our father and grandfather, the late Aminu Dantata. He was a good man, God-fearing, and a helper to many people not only in Nigeria but also beyond our borders.”



He further added, “Alhaji Dantata will be remembered for his benevolence, business acumen, and legacy of philanthropy. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and gives the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”



President Tinubu’s visit to Kano today underscores the high regard in which his administration holds the late Aminu Dantata, whose contributions to Nigeria’s economic and social development remain significant and widely celebrated.
