The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a landlord and two other suspects in connection with the abduction and brutal murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA): Abah John Friday, aged 25, and Okah Andrel Eloho, aged 19.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, during a press briefing held in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

CP Lawal explained that following a petition dated June 24, 2025, filed by the law firm G.O. Omoedu & Co. on behalf of Mr Emmanuel Peter of Shagari Village, Akure, the police launched an intensive investigation into the disappearance of Abah John Friday and his friend, Okah Andrel Eloho. The two students were reported missing on June 20, 2025.

Acting on the petition, detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping unit commenced a meticulous investigation, employing forensic tracking which led them to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos.

There, they recovered an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the victims from a suspect identified as Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, aged 38.

Mubarak, upon interrogation, confessed to purchasing the device from another suspect, Ojo Michael, who was later apprehended in Aramoko-Ekiti. In the course of the arrest, a Lexus RX 350 SUV belonging to the victims was also recovered.

Under interrogation, Ojo Michael confessed to participating in the abduction, robbery, and gruesome killing of the victims. He further disclosed that the crime was masterminded by Oladele Femi, the landlord of the male victim, Abah John Friday.

Michael revealed that Femi recruited him alongside another accomplice known as Kola—who is still on the run—to execute the criminal act.

The investigation also uncovered that N800,000 was illicitly withdrawn from the victim’s bank account while he was in captivity. Disturbingly, it was further revealed that the female victim, Okah Eloho, was raped.

According to Michael’s confession, both victims were murdered after Okah recognised and unmasked one of their captors, prompting the killers to eliminate them to avoid exposure. Their bodies were later disposed of in different locations between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti.

The police commissioner confirmed that acting on the confessions, detectives recovered the decomposing body of the female victim in a bush near Ode-Ekiti. Her remains have been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

However, the body of the male victim has yet to be recovered, although intelligence suggests he was dumped in a river by the fleeing accomplice.

CP Lawal further informed that the mastermind, Oladele Femi, had confessed to initiating the plot and assisting in concealing the crime.

He condemned the incident, describing it as a tragic demonstration of the depths of human cruelty, betrayal, and greed. He lamented that the young, promising undergraduates were senselessly raped and murdered in cold blood.

The police boss assured that relentless efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspect, recover the remains of Abah John Friday, and ensure that all those involved face the full wrath of the law.

CP Lawal concluded by reaffirming the Command’s commitment to delivering justice for the bereaved families and bringing closure to this harrowing case.
