United States President Donald Trump has intensified his feud with past supporters who have expressed disappointment over his handling of information regarding deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump labeled these supporters “weaklings” and described the controversy as a “hoax” orchestrated by his political enemies. In a social media post, Trump stated, “Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘b*,’ hook, line, and sinker.”
Trump accused Democrats of attempting to capitalize on growing anger over his administration’s efforts to distance itself from conspiracies surrounding Epstein’s death and alleged connections to powerful figures. He emphasized his administration’s successes, saying, “I have had more success in 6 months than perhaps any President in our Country’s history, and all these people want to talk about… is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax.”
The controversy underscores growing divisions within the US right over the Trump administration’s stance on Epstein’s death and alleged client list. Trump administration officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi, initially suggested investigating Epstein’s connections but later reversed course, concluding that Epstein’s death was a suicide and that he had no “client list.”
Trump’s insistence that his supporters stop discussing Epstein may be pushing some to double down on their criticism. Right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson questioned why the Epstein story is so infuriating, answering, “It’s the frustration of normal people watching a certain class of people get away with everything every single time.”
Meanwhile, international attention is focused on other pressing issues, including the recent Israeli airstrikes on Syria’s Defence Ministry and near the presidential palace in Damascus, which have drawn widespread condemnation from the global community. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed concern over the escalation in violence, urging maximum restraint.
