A fresh wave of abductions has gripped parts of northern Nigeria, as armed bandits have reportedly kidnapped several individuals, including a ward councillor, in Katsina State.
The same day also saw the confirmation of the abduction of a top government official in Nasarawa State, underscoring the worsening security situation in the region.
In Katsina State, the attack occurred on Monday night, July 14, 2025, in Daudawa community, located within the Faskari Local Government Area.
Security analyst and conflict journalist, Bakatsine, revealed that the heavily armed assailants stormed the community under the cover of darkness, seizing multiple residents.
Among those kidnapped was Hon. Buhari Aliyu Daudawa, who serves as the councillor representing Daudawa Ward in Faskari LGA.
“Yesterday night, bandits invaded Daudawa in Faskari LGA, Katsina State. They abducted several people including the ward councillor, Hon. Buhari Aliyu Daudawa during the invasion,” Bakatsine disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
As of the time of filing this report, the precise number of victims taken during the raid remains uncertain, with authorities yet to release an official casualty or abduction figure.
In a separate but equally troubling development, the Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Barrister Yusuf Musa, a Permanent Secretary serving with the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Barrister Musa, who previously held the position of General Manager at the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), was kidnapped from his private residence in Ungwan Nungu, a community in Lafia, the state capital.
Providing details of the case, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, stated that security operatives are actively pursuing credible leads aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the perpetrators.

These incidents add to the growing list of violent crimes in the northern region, raising renewed concerns about the effectiveness of existing security measures and the safety of residents.
