The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place in Daura town and other parts of the state to guarantee a peaceful and orderly burial for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

This coordinated security effort is being spearheaded by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 14, Katsina, in collaboration with other sister security agencies.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu, expressed its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, the Buhari family, friends, and Nigerians at large.

The police described Buhari’s death as a national loss, acknowledging his immense contributions to the nation’s growth and development.

To ensure the maintenance of peace and security during this period of mourning, the Command disclosed that various departments, tactical units, and special forces have been mobilised and strategically deployed.

The objective is to ensure that all security gaps are covered and that residents and visitors can participate in the burial activities without fear or disruption.

Similarly, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has made significant security deployments ahead of the burial.

The Katsina State Commandant of the NSCDC, Aminu Datti, revealed that a total of 2,807 personnel have been deployed across critical locations. This disclosure was made during a management meeting held on Monday at the State Command Headquarters in Katsina.

Commandant Datti further stated that the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abubakar Audi, expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the former president. He also issued directives for comprehensive security coverage to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the burial rites.

Additionally, Datti outlined key operational strategies that the Corps will implement during the period. These include heightened surveillance, the collection of actionable intelligence, active community engagement, and fostering collaboration and synergy with other security agencies.

These measures are designed to fortify security presence and ensure a seamless and dignified farewell for the late former president.
