Following a disappointing draw in their final group B match at the ongoing 2024 CAF Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morroco, Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has issued a heartfelt apology to Nigerian fans, acknowledging their high expectations and the team’s failure to secure a victory against Algeria in their last group game.

While Speaking to reporters in Casablanca, Morroco last night, Madugu expressed regret over the result but vowed that the team would redouble their efforts to make the nation proud in upcoming matches.

“We want to apologize to our dear countrymen and women for not winning the game,” Madugu said. “I know the expectation is that we must always win. We did our best to try and ensure victory, but it didn’t turn out as expected. We apologize and will work harder to make Nigerians happier in the games ahead.” Madugu stated.

The Super Falcons now face a daunting challenge in the quarter-finals, where they will take on a formidable opponent in Zambia boasting two of the world’s top strikers, Rachel Kundananji and Barbara Banda.

When asked about the threat posed by the duo, Madugu remained unfazed, emphasizing his team’s preparedness and strategic approach. “We have our strategies. We’ve watched them closely and know their strengths,” he stated confidently. “We’re not overly concerned about individual players. We know how good they are, and we’ll have an antidote for them on match day.”

Madugu’s calm demeanor and tactical assurance have sparked optimism among fans, despite the team’s recent setback. The Super Falcons have a history of resilience, and the coach’s focus on neutralizing the opposition’s key players signals a determined effort to advance in the tournament.

As Nigeria prepares for the crucial quarter-final clash, all eyes will be on Madugu and his squad to deliver a performance that restores national pride and showcases their competitive spirit on the global stage.
