APC Shuts Secretariat to Mourn Buhari

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally announced the temporary closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja as a mark of respect for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital after a prolonged battle with illness.



The announcement was made via an official statement released on Monday, July 14, by the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. According to the statement, the directive to close the Secretariat was issued by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Hon. Bukar Dalori.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” the statement noted.

The closure takes effect immediately from Monday, July 14, and the Secretariat is expected to reopen on Thursday, July 17, 2025.



In addition to the closure, the APC urged its members, supporters, and the general public to observe the national mourning period with solemnity and introspection. The party encouraged its faithful across the nation to engage in quiet reflection and offer prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed leader’s soul.


Felix Morka, in an earlier tribute issued from Abuja, expressed profound sorrow over Buhari’s death, describing it as a monumental loss to the nation.

He extolled the late President as an enigmatic leader, a distinguished elder statesman, and a shining example of patriotism whose life was characterized by unwavering dedication, resilience, discipline, and integrity.



Morka emphasized, “Nigeria has lost an enigmatic leader, an iconic elder statesman, and an exemplary patriot. His life of dedicated service, resilience, discipline, and integrity will forever be etched in the memory of this generation and generations to come.”



Muhammadu Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023 under the APC banner, left an indelible mark on the nation’s political landscape.

His leadership and personal principles continue to evoke admiration and reflection, particularly in moments such as this, when the country mourns his passing.
